The Title and Visibility of Department fields

You may not need every field for a specific organization chart. You can set field visibility, and there is an option to control whether hidden fields are shown in the updating panel.

Except for the "headcount" field, all other department fields are text fields without predefined usage. You can use them as needed and customize each field title for your workflow.

Visibility and title changes apply only to the current organization chart document and do not affect other files.

Right-click a department title in the outline panel to change field titles and visibility (double-click the department title in the outline panel to edit a field title directly). There is also an option in the updating panel to show all fields or only visible fields.

You will see updated field titles reflected everywhere they are displayed.

Update Department Content on the Outline Panel

Outline Panel acts like a grid.

Mouse-click or ← → ↑ ↓ (“left”, “right”, “up”, “down”) keys to change the active cell
Press ↩ (“enter”) to edit the active cell of the selected department; click the active cell again to edit; double-click any cell to edit it directly
Press Esc or click outside the active cell to cancel editing, and the change will be discarded.
While editing a cell, press ↩ (“enter”) to finish editing and save the change
Press ⌘⌥ (“Command” + “Alt”) + ↑/↓/←/→ to move to another active cell and edit it immediately
Press Delete to clear the content of the active cell
Copy and paste cell content: select a cell (without entering edit mode), press command+c to copy, then select a cell in the same field on another row (also not in edit mode) and press command+v to paste

Update Department Content on Updating Panel

The updating panel acts like a property list window for editing selected department content and visual style. To open the updating panel:

Double-click a department on the chart panel
Right-click a department in the outline panel or chart panel, then select the "edit" menu
Or click the panel visibility button on the toolbar

Change Department Photo

OrgChart makes photo changes very flexible. You can easily drag an image from Finder or other apps to the outline, chart, or updating panel to change the photo of a selected department.

OrgChart also provides options to control image zoom and clipping when creating a photo, including face detection.

Drag an image from another app to a department block on the chart panel to change the photo
Drag an image from another app to the photo frame on the updating panel to change the photo.
Drag a photo out of the updating panel to clear it.
In the outline panel, edit a photo cell and then drag an image from another app to change the photo.
In the outline panel, edit a photo cell and then drag the image out to clear the photo.
